The best VPN for adult sites in 2026: 7 VPNs compared

A VPN doesn't make you invisible, but it fixes three real adult-site problems: your internet provider no longer sees which sites you visit, neither does the office or hotel Wi-Fi, and the sites no longer see your real IP address. We checked prices on the official pages of the 7 VPNs in our ranking and tell you which one to pick for your budget, including the renewal price, where almost everyone gets caught.

Why use a VPN on adult sites?

Without a VPN, your internet provider sees the domain names you visit, and so does the Wi-Fi network you use. With a VPN, it only sees an encrypted connection to a VPN server. Sites see the server's IP address, not yours.

What a VPN doesn't do: it doesn't make you anonymous on a site where you log in with your account or bank card, it doesn't block a free tube's pop-ups (unless it has a built-in blocker, like NordVPN Complete, Proton VPN Plus or Windscribe's ROBERT), and it doesn't replace a good browser. For free tubes, pair it with uBlock Origin or Brave.

Most discreet: Mullvad, PIA or ExpressVPN?

If your priority is that nothing links you to your subscription, Mullvad VPN stands apart: no email or password, just an account number, and you can pay in cash, Bitcoin or Monero (10% off in crypto). The price never moves: €5 per month, whatever the length (mullvad.net, 26 Oct 2026). The trade-off: no free plan, no sales, and no refund for cash payments.

Private Internet Access asks for an email but takes crypto, allows unlimited devices and publishes a zero-logs policy with RAM-only servers; it's also the only one of the seven where we recorded 24/7 support in French. ExpressVPN publishes a no-activity, no-connection-log policy and covers 113 countries, but it belongs to the Kape group and renews at €79.95 to €179.95 a year depending on the plan (expressvpn.com, 27 Oct 2026).

Free VPN for adult sites: Proton VPN or Windscribe

Only two VPNs in our ranking have a genuine free plan. Proton VPN Free has no ads, no data cap and no activity logs (protonvpn.com/free-vpn, 26 Oct 2026), but it's limited to 1 device, servers in 10 randomly selected countries and "medium" speed. Windscribe gives 10 GB a month once your email is confirmed, with more countries but a data cap: HD video eats it quickly.

Avoid unknown free VPNs from app stores: a free VPN has to make money somehow, and when it isn't from a paid plan, it's often from ads or data. Proton and Windscribe are funded by their paid plans.

The renewal trap

The headline prices are almost all monthly prices averaged over 2 or 3 years and paid upfront. At renewal, NordVPN Basic goes to €139.08/year (26 Oct 2026), ExpressVPN to at least €79.95/year and Proton VPN Plus to €83.88/year. Private Internet Access lists €70 every 3 years when its long plan renews. Mullvad never changes its price, and Windscribe shows $69/year with no teaser rate. Surfshark doesn't show a renewal price on its plans.

Our advice: put the end date in your calendar and compare when it renews. NordVPN, Proton VPN, ExpressVPN, Private Internet Access and Surfshark advertise a 30-day money-back guarantee on a first subscription; Mullvad gives 14 days; Windscribe only refunds within 7 business days and under 10 GB.

Which one should you pick?

Maximum discretion: Mullvad VPN. Nothing to pay: Proton VPN Free (or Windscribe for more countries). Most features, ad blocker included: NordVPN Complete. Lots of devices on one account: Private Internet Access or Surfshark. Support in French: Private Internet Access.
